The DeKalb Association of REALTORS®
is a professional trade association of over 2,000 members
organized in 1956 to monitor and uphold the REALTOR®
Code of
Ethics, to support issues that affect both the home-buying
public and the real estate industry. The
Association became chartered in 1957 by the National Association
of REALTORS®
and the
Georgia Association of REALTORS®.
The purpose
of the Association is multi-faceted. One goal is to educate
REALTOR®
members to a higher degree than that of a licensed real estate
broker or agent. The Association also serves as a watchdog for
the buying and selling public. Coinciding with this, the
organization takes an active role in legislative and legal
defense activities in order to serve its member’s, as well as
the public's interest. Much of the Association's efforts are
concerned with communication. For example, the Association
often communicates to the public, through various means, the
dedication and worthiness of REALTORS®
whose
standards of practice are guided by the Code of Ethics. The
Association is a source for information on the conditions of the
local real estate industry. |
