DeKalb County is part of the Atlanta metro area;
it includes the eastern portion of the City of Atlanta as well
as the municipalities of Avondale Estates, Chamblee, Clarkson,
Decatur, Doraville, Lithonia, Pine Lake and Stone Mountain.
The estimated population of DeKalb County in 2006 was 723,602
and is expected to grow by 23% by 2030. DeKalb County
ranks second in total population among the 20 metropolitan
counties and personal income is the third highest in Georgia,
