Code of Ethics (COE) Training

What is Code of Ethics Training?

The Code of Ethics (COE) is a foundational set of professional standards that every REALTOR® must adhere to in order to ensure trust, fairness, and professionalism in real estate practices. As part of your membership with NAR, you are required to complete COE training to reinforce your understanding and commitment to these ethical guidelines.

Training Requirements:

  • Frequency: COE training must be completed every three years to maintain your NAR membership.
  • Current Cycle: The current COE cycle runs from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2027.
  • Next Cycle: The next COE cycle will begin on January 1, 2028 and end on December 31, 2031.

How It Affects Your Membership:

Failure to complete COE training by the end of each cycle will result in a lapse in your membership with NAR. To remain an active member, you must complete the training before the cycle deadline.

Where to Complete COE Training:

  • Through DeKalb REALTORS®: We offer COE training sessions for our members. Check our class calendar regularly for upcoming class dates and availability.
  • NAR’s Free Online Course: You can complete the training directly through NAR at no cost.

If you prefer, you can complete COE online through The CE Shop. They offer an easy-to-access fee based online course tailored to NAR's standards. View their available courses here.

Check Your COE Status:

To check if you’ve completed your required COE training and to view your status in the current cycle, visit the NAR website. You can check your status at any time by logging into your account at NARMemberLogin.
